Sandi and Tom Chambers serve in southwest Oregon, a mainly rural area known for its drier climate and numerous recreational activities. Residents of this area are generally from lower income households, and homelessness, gangs, and drug abuse have become growing problems.
The Hispanic population is the fastest growing in the region, and has led to a need for teachers to help with language and culture assimilation.
After seeing the need in the Hispanic jail population, Tom began directing the Spanish Jail Ministry and has been for 20 years. Sandi is now working with Fir Point Bible Camp to reach children and teens for Christ, and encouraging them throughout the year. Many of these "campers" come from one-parent homes, and need continual encouragement to seek the Lord in all circumstances. There's also a great need to come alongside the women and provide instruction for depending upon the Lord, and seeing Him working in their lives.
Sandi joined InFaith in 1985 and Tom joined in 1989.
Sandi accepted Christ in 1968, and dedicated her life to serving Him in 1973. She has a B.S. in Elementary Education and a certificate from the graduate Bible program at Multnomah University. “While attending Multnomah in 1980, the Lord used Psalm 37:5 (‘dwell in the land’) to speak to me. The mission to the world is right here in the United States. Those in need are all around us!” She served with InFaith in Washington state for four years, before marrying Tom and eventually moving to Oregon.
Tom has a B.S. in Bible from Multnomah, and served with WEC international for four years in Spain before marrying Sandi. After teaching for nine years in Christian schools, Sandi joined InFaith with Tom to serve those in Oregon.
