Mira serves in South Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, an urban area that is home to thousands of refugees and immigrants from all over the world. The neighborhoods across South Philadelphia are very diverse in their ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
Mira sees a great need for her community, which includes: true discipleship, spiritual revitalization, building up a younger generation of community leaders, greater unity between a vast array of ethnic groups, and providing for those in need.
Mira will oversee the Refugee Ministry, which ministers to refugees in her community. Services range from providing food and clothing distributions to hosting English as a Second Language (ESL) classes. They also assist refugees in navigating the social services system. In addition, Mira is actively working with church staff to build up a regional Bible-based Trauma Healing Ministry, that can be applied cross-culturally.
Her ministry is open to anyone who has needs that range from needing support in basic social services to pursuing a deeper relationship with Christ. They do this by hosting weekly worship services for 5 different ethnic congregations, weekly bible studies, a food pantry, refugee access center, ESL classes, and healing groups.
