Ben and Sarah Bobeda serve in Polk and Marion Counties, outside of Salem, Oregon. The local communities of Monmouth, Independence, and Falls City host one of the lowest percentages of residents who attend church in the nation. There is a desperate need for the turth of the gospel to be shared with these residents, especially the teens and young adults in the area.
After seeing the need in their community, the Bobedas began reaching youth and young adults in the area through a number of different ministries. Most of the teens they interact with through kids’ clubs, youth group, and after-school programs come from families that do not attend church.
During the school year, Ben leads the Falls City kids’ club, where fifth through eighth graders come on Monday nights to play dodge ball, shoot hoops, and learn about the Creator of the universe and His love for them. In the same community, high schoolers join Ben for lunch each Monday at one of the local churches where they are inspired to examine their lives in light of how the Bible says we should live.
The Bobedas minister to more than fifty students from the Central School District through The Gate, an after-school program where students play games and build relationships with adult volunteers who care about their physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. Ben also leads Access, a community youth group for teens that studies the Bible and focuses on discipleship and spiritual growth.
Alongside other InFaith field staff, Ben and Sarah help organize leadership training and youth retreats at Camp of the Risen Son, a traditional Bible camp that hosts nearly three hundred campers a year.
The Bobedas have served as InFaith field staff since 2004.
Ben grew up attending Bridgeport Community Chapel, a small rural church that started as an InFaith Sunday School. In the summer, he spent time at Camp of the Risen Son, a Bible camp run by InFaith missionaries. After getting married, Ben and Sarah volunteered yearly at the camp before joining InFaith in 2004 as missionaries to local youth on the Salem, Oregon field. Currently, they minister in two small rural communities during the school year and co-direct Camp of the Risen Son with InFaith's Steve and Kay Dixon.
