Janette King serves in Tyrone, a rural community in the Oklahoma panhandle about five miles from the Kansas/Oklahoma state line. Tyrone is small, with a population under 800, and is surrounded by farmland. The majority of residents in this community are Hispanic.
There is a great need in this area for outreaches to children and youth.
After seeing the need in her community, Janette felt the call to begin a ministry that focused on the area’s children and youth. She is starting a children’s program from the ground up at a local church. Her goal is to provide opportunities for children to learn and grow spiritually, while also reaching family units as a whole.
Janette has served as InFaith field staff since August 2017.
Janette grew up in the Oklahoma panhandle on a farm where she fell in love with the outdoors and hard work. As a junior in high school, she felt the call to ministry. She attended Oklahoma Baptist University, and graduated in 2015 with a degree in Children’s Ministry and a minor in Church Recreation.
Throughout her four years in college, Janette worked at two churches in Oklahoma. During the first two summers, she worked at a church camp in the Texas panhandle, and in 2014 and 2015 she served as an InFaith summer missionary in Colorado, Wyoming, and Montana.
Since achieving full-time missionary status with InFaith, Janette is focusing completely on ministry as she trusts God to bring full support to the ministry He has begun in Oklahoma. God has opened several doors in multiple communities for children and youth ministry.
